St John’s Youth Services, in partnership with the Government of South Australia and Ladder, are now providing a major new service to young people in Port Adelaide.

We have expanded our services to homeless young people in Port Adelaide with the exciting Ladder St Vincent Street service. St Johns provides operational management and Case Management services to young people engaged in the new program based in the renovated landmark building formerly known as the Black Diamond Hotel. The tenancy management of the resulting 23 apartments and commercial space will be provided by Housing SA. Young people living in the new service will also benefit from Ladder mentoring programs. Ladder is a joint initiative of the AFL Players’ Association and the AFL Foundation to provide mentoring by past and present AFL players and other elite athletes to young people lvivng at Ladder St Vincent Street.

The new service provides young people who are homeless or at risk of homlessness with a living environment that integrates housing and living skills programs, links to education and training opportunities and provides the social and emotional support to make a lasting impact on their lives. The building contains common areas, meeting rooms, internet access and office space. At St John’s we are thrilled to be a part of this revolutionary system of supporting young people in Adelaide to break the cycle of homelessness.

Eligibility Critera:

• Male or Female (single)
• Aged 16 – 21
• Housing SA Category 1 or 2 eligible
• Are homeless or at risk of homelessness
• Currently employed, studying or are prepared to commit to undertake education, training or employment activities.
