Foyer Port Adelaide Open Day
Community comes together to celebrate young people at Foyer Open Day
There’s something special about seeing young people light up when share their stories with pride, and that’s exactly what happened at our recent Foyer Port Adelaide Open Day.
Our residents stepped into the role of tour guides, welcoming visitors into their home and opening up about their day-to-day lives, their study and work commitments, and the dreams they’re chasing for the future. Their confidence and openness showed just how far they’ve come.
Between tours, guests tucked into delicious catering from Miss MYSA while Nat Cook MP spoke passionately about the urgent need for better housing options for young people across South Australia—a message that resonated with everyone in the room.
Thanks to support from the RAA Grassroots Giving program, we were able to create a warm, welcoming space where people could see firsthand what the Foyer model is all about and why it works so well. Beyond the celebration, the day served a bigger purpose: advocating for more Foyers across SA so that more young people can access the stability and support that changes lives.
Days like the Foyer Open Day remind us that when young people have a safe place to call home, people who believe in them, and real opportunities to grow, they don’t just survive. They thrive.
