Giving credit where credit is due
We’re proud to be part of Give Credit Week—a campaign that celebrates the 77,000 staff and volunteers across nearly 750 organisations who make up South Australia’s community service sector.
From Adelaide Railway Station to Victor Harbor, names are scrolling across public screens like film credits, recognising the people who show up every day to support South Australians facing challenges—whether that’s homelessness, disability, mental health struggles, or so much more.
At St John’s Youth Services, we know firsthand the power of this sector. Every young person who walks through our doors is met by a network of support that extends far beyond our team. We’re part of something bigger—a community of organisations, workers and volunteers united by a shared belief that every South Australian deserves dignity, opportunity and care.
To our team: thank you
To every team member at St John’s Youth Services, you’re the reason young people find safety, build confidence and create futures filled with possibility. Your compassion, creativity and unwavering belief in young people changes lives every single day. You see potential where others might see problems, and you walk alongside young people through their toughest moments and their greatest triumphs.
To our sector colleagues: we see you
We also want to recognise the incredible workers across the community service sector who are doing this vital work every day, often behind the scenes. You’re holding families together, helping people find homes, supporting recovery, providing meals, creating safe spaces, and so much more. Your work matters, and we’re grateful to stand alongside you.
To SACOSS and Volunteering SA&NT: thank you for leading the way
A special thank you to SACOSS and Volunteering SA&NT for creating and delivering this important campaign. Your tireless work strengthening, supporting and championing the community sector makes all the difference—not just during Give Credit Week, but every day. You amplify our voices, connect our efforts, and ensure the vital work of the sector is recognised and valued across South Australia.
To the South Australian community: thank you for believing
None of this work would be possible without the support of our broader South Australian community. To every donor, partner, volunteer, employer and advocate who supports the community sector—thank you. Your belief in this work, your generosity and your commitment to looking after each other is what makes South Australia stronger.
Give Credit Week is a reminder that behind every service, every program and every success story is a person who chose to care. It’s a reminder that the community sector isn’t just about fixing problems—it’s about building connection, fostering hope and creating pathways forward.

Together, we’re proving that when we support each other, anything is possible.
