AGM 2025: Community, commitment and purpose

Update from the 2025 AGM

The 2025 St John’s Youth Services Annual General Meeting brought together a dedicated group of members, Directors, employees and supporters who all share a commitment to helping young South Australians make a place to call home.

Our members play an important role in the life of St John’s Youth Services. Their support, encouragement and long-standing connection to our purpose help strengthen our services and sustain the work we do with young people every day.

During the meeting, Board Chair Christine Bell reflected on the challenges young people are facing, including housing pressures, cost of living stress and increasing mental health concerns. She spoke about the achievements of the past year, highlighted the stories shared in the 2025 Annual Report, and acknowledged the dedication of our team, partners and supporters who continue to walk alongside young people as they work towards independence.

CEO Nicole Chaplin shared an update on the year’s achievements and spoke about the extraordinary potential of the young people we work with. She shared the story of a young woman who moved from Youth110 to Foyer Port Adelaide and has since gone on to achieve remarkable milestones, including completing her SACE, speaking at national events and receiving early entry into university. Her story was a powerful reminder of the impact that stable housing, respect and opportunity can have on a young person’s future.

Members also endorsed the 2024-2025 Financial Statements and confirmed the appointment of Galpins as auditor for the 2025/26 financial year. The meeting included the confirmation of continuing Directors Peter Balabanski, Hayley Colebatch, Nathanial Motlap, Leonie Paulson and Justin Piteo, and the re-election of Christine Bell, Rashi Kapoor, Tim Prowse and David Scotland to the Board. Office holders will be decided at the December Board meeting.

We thank all members who attended and those who sent their apologies. Their continued involvement strengthens our work and helps ensure young people in South Australia have the support, stability and opportunities they need to thrive.
